Neer dosa was introduced in our family through one of our aunts, who is from the bunt community from Mangalore.

The ingredients needed to make Neer Dosa:
  1. Make ready 1 cup rice
  2. Take Water
  3. Get Salt
  4. Make ready 1 tsp oil

So Neer dosa refers to a dosa that is made with batter of neer consistency i.e water consistency. Unlike the other versions of South Indian dosa, this dosa is made without any lentils and needs no fermentation. Neer is the word for water in Tulu language. Unlike other dosas neer dosa is known for its simple preparation method and lack of fermentation.

Steps to make Neer Dosa:
  1. Take 1 cup rice soak for 4 hrs. Wash properly and drain it. Grind rice and keep aside
  2. Add water and mix…properly. Add salt.
  3. Heat non stick pan. Sprinkle little water and wipe it with a cloth. Brush oil and pour spoon full batter. Spread evenly. Cover and cook for 5 minutes. If it is done. Make half fold and transfer to a plate
  4. Immediately serve hot….neer dosa with…coconut chutney

Usually neer dosa is served with coconut chutney, sambar, saagu and non vegetarian curries like chicken, mutton, fish and egg curry. Even though many variations exist for Neer Dosa batter, the two basic ingredients common to all. Hence, Neer Dosa can be said to be crepe prepared using water and rice flour. It is a fluffy, light bread which is made mostly in the south-west, coastal region of India and it is also known as bari akki dose. Neer Dosa is a popular South Indian delicacy, which is a perfect melange of aromatic curry leaves and crunchy dosa.
